Off the Beaten Track
Ludlow makes an ideal base to tour the surrounding area. Here are our favourites:
CRAVEN ARMS
The Land of Lost Content – the National Museum of the 20th century – located in Craven Arms, 8 miles north on the A49, the Land of Lost Content has a amazing collection of memories. This is well worth a visit - it's fascinating. The memories it evokes are priceless.
Stella and Dave Mitchell run this - or it would be more accurate to say they LIVE IT.
If you're going home by the A49 North route, drop in - it's great.
While you're at it - the Pound Aisle at Hurry Tuffins supermarket is always worth a look - for the sheer Aladdin's cave of items that, well, cost a pound!
MUCH WENLOCK
On the way from Telford to Ludlow - if you can park then there is a brilliant PIE SHOP here half way up the high street - there are queues of people spilling out onto the pavement from when it first opens - when you get inside you'll see why.
OUTSKIRTS OF LUDLOW
Ludlow Food Centre
A couple of miles out of town - not so far off the beaten track really - northwards on the A49. This is a cross between a sort of indoor farmer's market, a food production showcase (with glass walls from the shop area into the production areas) and a superior food-only supermarket. It's well worth a look - it has its own parking and a cafe on the site.
